.:: 18 th Tir::.

On the eve of July 9, 1999 (18th Tir of the year 1378 in Persian calendar) a group of students from Tehran University had a peaceful protest during the Mohammad Khatami presidency. The protest was attacked by Basij and plain-clothes. They beat the students, kicked down doors, smashed through halls, and grabbed female students by the hair and set fire to rooms. Several students were thrown off the third story balconies onto pavement below, their bones crushed, and one student was paralyzed. This attack caused students and youths from many major cities throughout Iran to protest against the Islamic Republic of Iran. They rioted for five days. Many students have been killed, wounded, and imprisoned.

We are going to gather together to remember the 18th Tir anniversary for keeping the memory of that day alive and remember what happened to the innocent students.
